This featured project showcases a complete transformation from a heavily layered asphalt shingle roof to a premium, long‑life metal roofing system. The existing roof had 3–5 layers of shingles, adding unnecessary weight and concealing aging underlayment and flashings. Our team delivered a clean, code‑compliant tear‑off, substrate remediation, and installation of a high‑performance metal roof engineered for Toronto’s freeze–thaw cycles and lake‑effect weather.

1. Removal of existing shingles on the high‑pitch roof (12/12 slope).
2. Waterproofed the roof deck with High Temperature FT‑Platinum HS‑SA self‑adhered membrane.
3. Replaced old flat roof sections with a new two-ply membrane system
4. Mechanical‑lock standing seam metal roofing system — all panels roll‑formed on site.
5. Custom steel flashings fabricated in‑house.

We removed all existing shingle layers across the steep 12/12 slopes with full debris control and protection for landscaping and façades. Decking was exposed for inspection and fastening upgrades.

We installed High Temperature FT‑Platinum HS‑SA self‑adhered membrane to waterproof the deck, with special attention at eaves, valleys, and penetrations.

We removed the aging flat roof sections down to sound substrate, repaired localized deck areas, and installed a two-ply SBS modified bitumen membrane (base + granulated cap). The assembly includes a vapor retarder and tapered polyiso insulation to improve drainage to existing/new drains. We finished with new sheet-metal flashings, curb and parapet details, and sealed terminations, delivering a durable, low-maintenance waterproofing system.

A premium mechanical‑lock standing seam system was selected for superior wind and weather performance on steep slopes. All panels were roll‑formed on site for exact lengths and crisp lines.

We fabricated and installed custom steel flashings at chimneys, walls, and transitions to integrate with the new metal system.

We increased the opening and installed a new oversized VELUX skylight with a new build up curb, integrated underlayment, and formed metal apron/head flashings.

We installed custom steel fascias and vented steel soffits, the Ruukki SIBA TECH European square gutter system, and custom leaf guards for low‑maintenance performance.

We installed a continuous, clamp‑on snow retention engineered for standing‑seam metal roofs. Non‑penetrating attachment to the seams (no holes in panels), colour‑matched rail, and an engineered layout based on seam spacing and local snow loads.
